The Board is offering different specialized programs and services to help and support our students. If you think your child would benefit from one or more of these services, please talk to your teacher.
Fully funded by the Alberta Government, our schools offer academic programs from kindergarten to grade 12 in accordance with the curriculum set out by Alberta Education and offer many advantages, to list only a few:
French first language education is intended for children who are eligible under section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Studies and experience have shown that francophone schooling is the most effective way for a francophone child living in a minority setting to become highly proficient in French AND in English.
Our preschool programs welcome children eligible for francophone education aged 3 and/or 4 years old for 2 to 5 half-days per week. These playschools are situated within or in proximity to our schools but are managed by parent committees and the Fédération des parents francophones de l'Alberta.
Our Catholic schools offer religion courses developed locally, approved by the Alberta Conference of Catholic Bishops and based on the religious program of francophone catholic schools in Ontario.
The following is a summary (in French) of the themes taught at every level.
Beginning in September 2015, our catholic schools outside of Edmonton will offer the Quebec course « Ethic and religious culture » to students whom parents requested an exemption from the catholic program.
The Board offers a full-time kindergarten program in all elementary schools. Research have found that French learning is stronger among students attending full-time kindergarten.
Children must be 5 years of age by December 31st of its kindergarten year to be eligible. Please register your child directly at the school. During the summer holidays, registration can be done at the Board’s main office.
